…HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
8 PM CDT THURSDAY…
* WHAT…Heat index values 100F to 106F expected this afternoon
and heat index values 102F to 110F expected Thursday afternoon.
* WHERE…Portions of western and central Illinois.
* WHEN…From 1 PM Today to 8 PM CDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity will threaten
heat-related illness for people and pets that experience
prolonged exposure to these dangerous outdoor conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heat index will remain quite warm
Wednesday night, offering little relief, before similar or
higher heat index develops for Thursday afternoon.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when

Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
