Police look for Galesburg shooting suspect

GALESBURG (WEEK) – Galesburg Police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect in a shooting that wounded a man earlier this month.

Police were called late on the night of July 5 to the 900 block of Jefferson Street in Galesburg where officers said they found a man with four gunshot wounds to his stomach. Authorities said the victim was taken by helicopter to a Peoria hospital where he was expected to survive his wounds.

The day after the shooting, Knox County prosecutors obtained a warrant for the arrest of Mario Devon Washington on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon by a felon.
