ELMWOOD (WEEK) — A beloved tradition returned Saturday after it was called off in 2020 – the annual Elmwood Strawberry Festival.

Visitors enjoyed a day of shopping, music, food, cars and of course – plenty of sweet summer strawberries.

In addition to the food festivities, dozens of vintage vehicles were on display, including one car manufactured in 1921.

Vendors were serving strawberry smoothies, shakes and the most prized dish of all – the famous strawberry pizza.

Watercolor painter Lois McCoy has been attending the event for years, and said it was great to get back out there Saturday.

“It’s (great) talking to the people and seeing old friends, because I used to live here,” McCoy said. “It feels good to be out. I like the weather today – it makes you feel good.”

Coupled with Saturday’s event was a quilt show held at the Elmwood Presbyterian Church.

The Prairie Quilters of Central Illinois put their creations on display, and many of the quilts honored veterans and war heroes.
