PEKIN (WEEK) — Dozens of children rode their bikes Saturday morning at the Kiwanis Club of Pekin Bike Safety Rodeo.
Volunteers, Pekin Police, and Tazewell County first responders were there to help teach kids about bike safety.
The kids were able to learn how to curve, stop, yield and how to make sure their helmets are fitted.
Free helmets and bike bags were given out as well as one free bike.
Kiwanis Club volunteer, Sherry Semonis, said the event was all about giving back to the community.
“It’s the best, just to see them smile and get their new helmets, its awesome. It really brings joy to all of us,” said Semonis.
Semonis said she was thankful for the communities support because without them, they would not be able to put on events like this.
