PEORIA HEIGHTS (WEEK) – South Side Mission youth programs stand to benefit from a Peoria Heights meat company’s fundraiser that started on Friday.
Alwan & Sons on East War Memorial Drive is serving sandwiches at its “lunch grill” at the Mission’s Thrift Store parking lot on East War Memorial Drive.
The grill was open for business about midday on Friday and will be open again Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Mission’s summer day camp and Camp Kearney.
“We’re neighbors, it’s a good neighborly thing to do, to help their non-for- profit organization, and they depend on donations and fundraisers such as this,” said Alwan & Sons co-owner Brian Alwan.
Included on the lunch grill’s menu include ribeye sandwiches, porkchop, hamburgers, and hotdogs.
A lemonade shakeup might be just the treat to cool off from this weekend’s summerlike temperatures.
