EAST PEORIA (WEEK) – An East Peoria school with just over 200 students donated more than $2,000 to Easterseals.
Every year, Glendale Elementary School has an end-of-year celebration. This year, they’re celebrating by giving back.
The school hosted a “change for charity” drive in which kids brought in their spare change.
Glendale Principal Terrie Armstrong said the children chose to donate to Easterseals Central Illinois to help celebrate diversity.
“We celebrate our differences here,” said Armstrong.
“We wanted to make sure that we continue to teach that with our kids and share some kindness in the world,” she added.
Armstrong noted that kindness is what’s needed in the world.
A spokesperson for Easterseals said it gives the organization a lot of hope to see students come together to support other kids of all abilities.
The students at Glendale aren’t done with their charitable giving yet. The school is also raising money for St. Jude.
