PEORIA (WEEK) – The Peoria Rivermen are returning to the ice, but with a different look.
The Rivermen are gearing up to hit the ice this fall after opting out of the 2020-2021 season because of COVID-19 restrictions.
The 40th season will feature “The Captain” — the team’s mascot from the time the Rivermen were part of the ECHL.
The Rivermen decided to bring back “The Captain” because the old logo embrace’s the team’s strongest qualities,” said Josh Morin, vice president of business development.
“Captains are all about leadership, and courage, and guidance. And that’s what the Rivermen players are all about, so we thought this year why not bring it back for our 40th anniversary,” said Morin.
The Rivermen’s season starts in October. Morin said the schedule will come out sometime within the next three weeks.
