PEORIA (WEEK) — Three finalists have been chosen from a pool of more than 20 to replace Mayor Rita Ali’s vacant at-large seat on the Peoria City Council.
Kim Armstrong, James Kemper and Kiran Velpula were selected from a field comprising several former city council candidates and public figures.
Kim Armstrong is a Bradley alumnus who served as Vice President of Marketing and Institutional Advancement at Illinois Central College. She was also Rita Ali’s campaign manager.
James Kemper finished third in the 2nd District City Council primary election in February.
Kiran Velpula is assistant professor in the Cancer Biology & Pharmacology and Neurological Surgery departments at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP)
The deadline for an appointment to be made is Saturday, July 3.
