PEORIA (WEEK) — Army National Hiring Days has prompted a virtual reality simulator at Northwoods Mall in Peoria.

As cases of COVID-19 start to decline, army recruiters said it was the perfect time to use their simulator. They said it allows people to experience what a job in the army might be like.

In the Special Forces Operation Trailer, people can use the machine gun, parachute, sandbox simulators and more.

Sergeant Marco Veliz said this helps people decide if they might have a future in the army.

“We’ve had a few people that’s came in where they said they might be interested. We’ve had a few people that’s been in that retired 40-50 years ago and it brings back so many memories. So we have both people that are ready to do it and people that have already done it,” said Sergeant Veliz.

The truck will be open outside of Northwoods Mall from noon to 7 pm until Thursday.
