CREVE COEUR (WEEK) — A local musician is getting help with his medical bills thanks to the work of the music scene in Central Illinois.
Joey Frakes, a drummer, is currently struggling with several medical issues including mini strokes, that are affecting his memory.
His friends put together Shakin’ for Frakes’ Sake to help with medical bills. The concert featured three different bands. Organizer Bill Cameron said it was rather easy finding people who wanted to help out.
“It was one of the easiest things was getting all the acts together to play this, everybody wanted a piece of it, and so it was really nice that everybody wanted to do it. We’ve had so many donations given in, that we’re raffling off, guitars and other things, so it’s been really nice to see that,” said Cameron.
Bill said Joey is sick and tired of being sick and wants to get back to performing. Bill hopes helping pay for the care Joey needs will speed up his recovery.
