EAST PEORIA (WEEK) – WEEK-TV General Manager Mark DeSantis is wrapping up a 40 year career in broadcasting.
Friends, family, and colleagues gathered Wednesday afternoon to celebrate his accomplishments.
DeSantis has always been a man of many hats by serving as a board member, board chairman of if St. Jude Children’s Hospital- the Midwest affiliate, Crittenton Crisis Nursery, United Way of Central Illinois and the CEO Council for Economic Development in Peoria.
His career advice is simple:
“When running a station like WEEK, I’ve learned that you have to hire the best people, train them well, and then let them do their job. Stay out of their hair.”
Company Vice President Jim McKernan assumed General Manager duties on February 1, while DeSantis served in an advisory role.
Hid last day on the job will be June 4.
