PEORIA (WEEK) – Three more people have died in the Tri-County region due to illnesses related to the coronavirus, even as the number of new COVID-19 cases are on the decline.
Local health officials said Thursday that two people from Tazewell County had passed away, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 80s. One death was reported in Woodford County, a woman in her 90s.
The total number of dead in the region encompassing Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties rose to 735, health officials said.
There were only 19 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 infections, from 31 new cases Wednesday, according to the health department. Six new cases were reported in Peoria County, 12 in Tazewell, and one new case in Woodford County. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 45,391 cases in the three counties.
Health officials also reported the region has a 98% recovery rate, 0.06% were hospitalized, and 0.45% were in home isolation.
