The Fighting Illini golf team is dreaming of a national title. A dream that became closer to reality thanks to this Morton home.
Last year, when COVID shut down the University of Illinois, Illini stars Jerry Ji, from the Netherlands, and Adrian Dumont de Chassart, from Belgium, were unable to leave the country and go home.
So, they moved into the Morton home of Illini standout Tommy Kuhl. The experience of teammates living together brought the entire Illini team even closer.
“It was a neat experience to have them living with us,” Kuhl said. “It brought out the best in us because we pushed each other and I know they really liked it and will remember it forever.”
“We have always prided ourselves on being a close team, but the Kuhl family went about and beyond and make Tommy, Jerry and Adrian so close by being with each other every day,” Mike Small, Illini golf head coach, said.
The Illini make their 13th straight trip to the NCAA Finals. They have been to the Final Four four times and once to the National Title Match.
