EUREKA IL (WEEK) – A local police officer serves suspension after making derogatory comments about a woman he just pulled over in March.
25 News obtained the dashcam footage.
This video is from March 19th, when Eureka Officer Andrew Burgess conducted a traffic stop for speeding.
The stop last about 15 minutes.
As the car drives away, the officer makes the inappropriate remarks to a Woodford County deputy on the radio.
Burgess: “She’s got all the tattoos, and the piercings, the lip piercing, the nose piercing…”
Woodford Co: “What about her p****?”
Burgess: “Yeah, I saved that for you, buddy.”
A disciplinary order from the Eureka Assistant Chief condemns the comments, calling it ‘serious misconduct’.
It also claims Officer Burgess appeared to prolong the traffic stop because of the woman’s appearance. This is a violation of department policy.
The order says Burgess was previously suspended for three days for different misconduct, and suspended four days without pay for this incident.
Burgess is now back on the job.
