PEORIA (WEEK) — More than 100 demonstrators gathered in Peoria Sunday to protest the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and show their support for the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Demonstrators called for peace in the conflict that has killed hundreds over just the past few weeks.
Some were also protesting against the United States’ role in providing military aid to Israel.
A ceasefire was called earlier this weekend, but event organizers say they just want their voices to be heard and change to be made.
“The reason we’re doing it, right now, because of the recent bloodshed,” event organizer Lawrence Maushard said. “The ceasefire may or may not hold. but we are here to put public pressure on our elected leaders to stop funding Israel.”
