PEORIA (WEEK) – Temperatures are finally warm enough for thee pool, but the Peoria Park District is anticipating a June 7 opening for public pools.
The park district’s executive director Emily Cahill said pools typically don’t open Memorial Day weekend.
She says the park district is not experiencing a chlorine shortage like some, however it’s been hard to find lifeguards.
“That’s going to be necessary for us to maximize the days that we’re open,” said Cahill.
“So our schedule is still influx and we’re going to try and finalize that, but we have to get more lifeguards to help keep our swimmers safe,” Cahill added.
When pools open, Cahill said the park district will be asking everyone to practice social distancing when possible.
