Champaign Police Officer shot Wednesday released from hospital


CHAMPAIGN (WEEK) – A Champaign Police Department Officer was shot and killed Wednesday after responding to a domestic dispute. A second officer was also shot during the cross fire. Champaign Police have now identified that officer as Jeffrey Creel.

Officer Jeffrey Creel was shot three times during the altercation Wednesday.

Officer Creel has been released from the hospital after being shot three times.

Officers Creel and Chris Oberheim responded to a domestic disturbance call Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival they were fired upon by an armed man, killing Officer Oberheim and injuring Officer Creel.

Officer Chris Oberheim was shot and killed Wednesday.

The suspect was also killed in the gunfire.

Officer Chris Oberheim’s family released a statement via the Champaign Police Department Facebook page.

There will be a visitation and Celebration of Life on May 25 and May 26 in Oberheim’s hometown of Decatur.
