Rainy weather doesn’t stop ‘Shots for Brats’ vaccine clinic

PEORIA (WEEK) — Over 100 people got vaccines this morning at a unique event in Central Peoria.

Vaccine participants were supposed to get a free bratwurst or hot dog from Alwan & Sons Meat Company. However, the rainy weather prevented them from starting the grill.

Instead, people got coupons to redeem next weekend.

Advanced Medical Transport administered vaccine doses at Saturday’s clinic. Organizers say they are hoping to host another “Shots for Brats” clinic next weekend.

“You can have your brat, and your chips, and sit at a table and have lunch with your family, and spend that waiting period, that 15-minute waiting period, actually enjoying something,” Kelly Walsh said. “We most certainly want everybody to still come get their free brat.”

You can make vaccine appointments at the Peoria City/ County Health Department’s website. Walk-ins were also welcome at this Saturday’s event.
