South Nashville market padlocked, declared ‘public nuisance’ after multiple shootings

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police shut down and padlocked a South Nashville business Friday morning, declaring it a “public nuisance.”

In a statement on social media around 10:30 a.m., the department said it had closed the Egyptian Latino Market on Millwood Drive, off Murfreesboro Pike.

Police cited “shootings of innocent persons” in Sept. 2020 and Jan. 2021, as well as other crimes that have happened at the business.


Honky tonker charged with vandalism after fight inside Broadway bar

The market was the scene of a shooting that wounded four people in Sept. 2020. The suspect in that shooting was arrested the following month.

No additional information was immediately released about the closure of the market.
