A fund raiser surpassed expectations in Creve Coeur this spring, hauling in more than $4,500.

School District 76 used a variety of techniques, including a jeans week for teachers, a night out at Kuchie’s on the Water, and a penny tree at La Salle Primary School.

That penny tree alone brought in $2,000 dollars.

“I was very surprised. Originally, being the first year, I was kind of thinking. ‘Oh, we’ll get a couple hundred dollars for this, a couple hundred dollars for that. Maybe (we) reach $2,000 overall. But to have a grand total of $4,500 dollars just blew me away,” said Jake Yocum, Asst. Principal at Parkview Middle School.

And that administrator says many of the teachers also plan on running for St. Jude later this summer.

We will again bring you the St. Jude Telethon in July only here on 25News.
