PEORIA (WEEK) — Police say they have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection to an April 30 shooting that left two injured.
Jeffrey Thompson, Jr. was detained in another jurisdiction, but was interviewed by Peoria Police detectives and arrested for two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and no FOID card.
Thompson was then transported to the Peoria County Jail, according to a Peoria Police Department news release.
The arrest stems from the April 30 incident when officers located two victims in a car with gunshot sounds to the legs in the 2300 block of West Glen.
The two were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicated that the victims were involved in an altercation in the area of University and Forrest Hill involving multiple vehicles, according to the PPD.
Several of the vehicles then drove onto Meadowbrook. One of the vehicles pulled to the side of the road and stopped. A male suspect exited the vehicle and began firing a gun in the direction of the victim vehicle, striking the two occupants inside.
