BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man suspected of carjacking an ATV, setting it on fire and assaulting three people was arrested by Kern County deputies Saturday night in area south of Glennville, officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to an area on Poso Flat Road near Granite Road, south of Highway 155 at around 8 p.m. for a report of a carjacking.
Officials say a man believed to be under the influence assaulted a person and carjacked their ATV on Poso Flat Road. KCSO Lt. Cesar Ollague said the suspect then set the ATV on fire, ran off and entered a home. The suspect then allegedly assaulted a man and woman inside the home and then left. One of the victims at the home was hospitalized with a laceration to the eye, Ollague said.
After the alleged assault at the home, the man then went to a school and climbed on top of the roof, Ollague said. The man was eventually taken into custody at around 9:10 p.m.
The man was arrested for multiple charges including carjacking, arson and assault. The suspect was not identified.
