Police in Portland said a person was killed early on Saturday after being hit by a Trimet train.
Emergency crews responded to a report of a train collision with a pedestrian at around 1:30 in the morning.
Portland Police Office officers found the body of the person who had been injured shortly after his arrival.
TriMet temporarily discontinues its service during the investigation.
The authorities did not immediately reveal the name of the dead man so they could notify family members.
